Siberian Cat Breeders
|
Breeders of Siberian cats can be found all over the world, I have found them in America, Australia, all parts of Europe and Asia, Africa and even in Saudi Arabia. I can understand the rise in popularity of this beautiful cat, the striking fur patterns, fluffiness , friendly dispositions and gentleness of this animal makes it a must have with children and pet lovers everywhere.
The fact that many Siberian cat breeders insist that this is a hypo-allergenic cat makes its popularity set to soar even higher. Although sceptics insist that no real scientific studies have been done to prove this fact, many breeders have had tests done into the levels of FEL D1 in their cats hair. FEL D1 is a protein produced by cats thought to be responsible for asthma and other allergies and the levels found to be carried by this breed of cat are significantly lower than in others. The other main cause of allergies, cat hair, is also lessened as this is a non shedding cat. If you are one of the unlucky people who do suffer from a cat allergy, most Siberian cat breeders will send you a sample of cat fur for a small fee, add that to the cost of buying the cat, around $2000, and shipping if you´re not lucky enough to live near a breeder, buying a pedigree cat can be a very expensive business. Before 1990 there was no central cat registry registry in Russia, unlike other countries who generally have at least one. The first cat clubs had only been started 3 years before and there were no Siberian cat breeders, so no history for any of the animals, the first cats registered were no different from any other cats. Originally brought to Russia as an exotic pet over a thousand years ago, the European cats taken into the Siberian wastelands quickly mated with local forest cats and evolved into a breed of their own. For centuries, written about in Russian literature and said to inhabit monasteries watching out for the monks, it was only in the 20th century they were brought to Moscow and St. Petersburg for the purpose of mice control.
Being able to withstand the harsh Siberian climate which ranges from very hot summers to very cold winters make this a very adaptable pet and Siberian cat breeders are able to breed them successfully no matter what the weather conditions in their region. |
